If you don’t already know my summer sister, Laura Wasser, you should.

She’s an in-demand Family Law Attorney and the Founder & CEO of It’s Over Easy, plus my weekend neighbor in the trailer park on Point Dume in Malibu. Whether we’re barbecuing together, sipping wine while the sun sets or watching our kids frolic in the surf, Laura is my go-to gal at the beach. I enlisted her to share her guide to Malibu and Point Dume, and I am in total agreement with all of her recommendations. Here they are….

Describe your perfect Malibu day:

I’d start the day with a morning run, followed by coffee and relaxing at my trailer in the Point Dume Club. For lunch I’d pick up tacos from Lily’s and then head down to the beach to lie in the sun and swim all day. In the evening, I’d have dinner with friends at Kristy’s in Trancas or Soho House’s Little Beach House

The best time to visit Malibu, and why:

Point Dume in August is magic. Everyone is in the vacation mindset and the energy is so good. Every weekend I’m hanging out with my friends, going to the farmers market, and being with my kids without the pressures of school and schedules.

Westward and Zuma beach are just a short walk or golf cart ride from my house and it’s the best place to spend the weekend with my kids.

What’s the best Malibu beach?

Little Dume is my favorite beach in Malibu. It’s small and secluded, which I love.

Do you have any special Malibu traditions?

The parade on the 4th of July is a lot of fun. We decorate our golf cart, pile all of the kids in, and celebrate with our neighbors. In the evening we have a taco party at my neighbor's house and all watch the fireworks together.

Two must-visit places in Malibu:

Thorne Family Farm has great produce and is fun for the whole family. We make sure to order our eggs in advance because they usually sell out! Malibu Seafood is a classic, no-frills spot for fresh seafood with an ocean view.

The best meal you’ve ever had in Malibu:

Currently loving Lucky’s, which is perfect for a big group to enjoy a delicious meal and drinks.

What’s your favorite indulgence in Malibu?

I love going to Nobu Malibu for dinner on the deck and watching the sunset over the Pacific.

Where to stay when visiting or looking for property:

The Surfrider Hotel just got an amazing renovation and is worth a stay. Also, check out the Hotel June for its chill and relaxed Malibu vibes.

The best home decor shop in Malibu:

The Inner Gardens Malibu Showroom is one of my favorite places to go. The nursery covers 1.3 acres and totally feels like a tropical escape.

Favorite celebrity sightings:

Anthony Kiedis and Rick Rubin at Point Dume Plaza waiting for their Lily’s pick up. I’m telling you -- everybody loves Lily’s!

Your favorite place to unplug:

Reading a good book on the patio of my place is so relaxing.

What’s your Malibu weekend uniform?

My bikini, Birkenstocks, and a suntan!

Jenna’s local favorites:

Trancas Country Market is the place to go. The Vintage Grocers is epic, Drill Surf & Skate has the best merchandise and friendliest staff, and SweetBu candy shop will take you back in time with all of the old school favorites. The shopping center also shows outdoor movies on Thursdays and hosts Friday Night Concerts in the summer. It’s a total community vibe that we love.

Sunroom is an incredible shop for women's designer clothing, swimwear, jewelry & shoes, located at the Malibu Country Mart. The owner, Lucy, has excellent taste and we always find something special when we swing by.
