#AllCoopedUp with Jeni DelPozo, Fitness Trainer

Jeni DelPozo has been helping my family stay healthy for many years. She is smart, committed, flexible, cheerful, kind, and honest. These are not necessarily qualities one thinks may be necessary In a fitness expert, but I consider them essential as she is tasked with helping our family stay strong.  One could say that for some of us, our fitness is challenged. An outside the box, creative trainer is what we need to stay positive and committed to living a healthier lifestyle. When Corona hit, she immediately switched our workouts to online, and has somehow managed to make our sessions entertaining as well as inspiring. I'm excited to share her interview here. I hope you find her as delightful as we do! - Jenna

P.S. Jeni scored you guys a discount code for workout (or staying-at-home) clothes from Carbon38. Use code JENIFERDEL50 at checkout for 15% off!

What’s your profession, and what does your day-to-day work experience look like now?

I am a fitness trainer specializing in Pilates. My certifications include Comprehensive Pilates through Equinox, Barre through Yogaworks, and Cycling via Schwinn. My "new" day-to-day includes working on my online business. Whether it be engaging on social media or getting my Follow Along videos up and running on my website, I have had a lot of time to focus my energy on this project, and I'm excited to share it with you all very soon! I still get to see a few clients via Zoom and it's been great to see their entire families working out together.

Are there objects or spaces in your house that you are newly appreciating? Or are there objects and spaces you have come to loathe?

I appreciate my newest addition to my kitchen - the air fryer! It cooks everything perfectly and it's keeping me healthy through this quarantine. There is nothing I loathe, I just wish I had more plants and artwork in my space.

Describe your at-home quarantine uniform.

My quarantine uniform is similar to my normal everyday outfit...workout clothes! You can use my code “ JENIFERDEL50” for a discount at Carbon38!

Who are you quarantining with? Do you feel the need to “get away”? How do you make it happen?

I'm solo quarantining. I will say that I've gotten a lot closer to my neighbors in my building. We have movie nights, and do group workouts when we can all fit it in. As much as I love being around people, I've been totally ok being home by myself. No need to get away. I've been running a lot more and I think that's helping me stay sane.

What’s the last thing you purchased online? Regret or obsessed?

Jeni Delpozo

My last online purchase was skincare products from Sephora. I wish I would have stocked up on all of the masks, oils, etc. beforehand! Now is the perfect time to take extra care of my skin, hair, and nails. They're being delivered today so hopefully I will love everything I purchased!

Tell us the best shows, podcasts, or books you’re loving right now.

I’m reading Shoe Dog by Phil Knight. To be honest, I've been reading this book for a while, and I love it! I just need to make more time to read. I’m listening to Brene Brown's new podcast, Second Life, another one of my favorites, and also Pod Save America. I'm currently binging Tiger King on Netflix. What the eff?!?!

Do you have any new quarantine activities or rituals?

Right before being quarantined, I was setting my alarm for 5AM and trying to have the morning to myself before going to work around 7AM. I pushed back my alarm by an hour and I'm trying to get out of bed right away, make my coffee, and enjoy it on the couch.

What is your favorite quarantine snack? What restaurants are you ordering takeout from?

My favorite quarantine snack would be cucumbers and hummus with a dash of hot sauce. My neighbor was so sweet and ordered Gjusta for us one night and it was delicious! You can pick up produce, meat packages, wines, so many great things along with your prepared meals.

What is the one item you’re glad you stocked up on? What do you wish you’d stocked up on?

I'm glad I have all of my tripods and lighting with me! They’re super helpful for all of the IG Live workouts I've been doing! I also have enough powders (protein, super greens, beauty powders) to make smoothies for months! I wish I would have stocked up on my fun skincare products beforehand, though.

What is your creative outlet and how are you making space for it?

I'm lucky that my creative outlet is also my career. I've been putting together workouts for clients' specific needs and goals and for social media, so it's been fun to keep the creative juices flowing.

Describe your biggest quarantine indulgence.

My biggest indulgence right now is vegan ice cream from Sweet Rose Creamery.

What are you doing for exercise?

I have workouts on my Instagram IGTV, workouts on my YouTube channel, and stay tuned for my monthly membership service with over 20 workout videos. The workouts are all Follow Along videos, taught by me. I take the foundation of Pilates and add so many more exercises to give you effective and efficient workouts. That will live on my website.

Are you sharing recipes with friends?

My friends and I post photos of our air fryer food on a mass text called Air Frying to my Heart.

What’s been the biggest challenge for you throughout this?

My biggest challenge has been navigating this new normal everyday. I’m figuring out how to keep my clients happy and healthy.

When this is over I cannot wait to...

HUG MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY!
