Slim Aarons: Once Upon A Time

Slim Aarons spent the jet-set decades of the 1950s, '60s, and '70s carrying out a self-described mission: to photograph "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places." This volume gathers some 250 images from that era — Hollywood royalty, European aristocracy, media moguls, and grandes dames of high society, captured across a vast geography of pools, gardens, boats, and opulent homes that no longer quite exist.

Pulitzer, Vanderbilt, Hearst, Ford. The Duke and Duchess of Windsor at the Waldorf Astoria. George Hamilton on a speedboat. Aarons had access that no photographer before or since has matched, and the pictures show it. A document of a lost world, and one of the great coffee table books.
