Luis Barragán: His Library

An intimate look at Luis Barragán, Mexico's most influential architect and the 1980 Pritzker laureate, through the books on his own shelves. His personal library still sits in his home and studio in Mexico City, now the Casa Luis Barragán museum, and this volume traces the authors and ideas that shaped him: art, spirituality, landscape, and modernism, held together by the silence and solitude that ran through everything he built.

Barragán read the way he designed, treating books as connections to friends and kindred spirits as much as sources of knowledge. A visual essay by photographer David Jiménez moves through the house in light and shadow, the spaces where Barragán fused traditional Mexican architecture with international modernism. Published with the Fundación de Arquitectura Tapatía Luis Barragán and Casa Luis Barragán.
